Welcome to the Surströmmiakki Fest!
What is Surströmmiakki Fest?
The event is to encourage the creation of fanwork focusing on the pairing SuFin (Sweden/Finland). The goal is also to encourage participants to get creative and try something new through a simple and flexible prompt system! Just about anything goes for this event!
In this event, each person is given a short list with four prompts on it. Participants will choose one out of the four prompts and produce either one piece of art or one fanfic with a minimum of 500 words.

About the Prompts
- Because this is a shipping fest, fanworks must focus on them as a pairing. You're free to make work focusing on their relationship as close friends (you won't be penalized for it) but it's preferred you make your fanwork focus on them as a pairing instead.
- Other characters and pairings are allowed to appear in the fanwork produced but the focus must be on Sweden and Finland.
- Each prompt list will be composed of four very short or one word prompts which can be interpreted as broadly as you like. All prompts will be chosen at random.
- Everyone is also given some optional prompts that you may add into your piece. You cannot substitute your optional prompts with your compulsory ones.
Here is an example of what a prompt list might look like:
1. Beach [Optional: Picnic or 1920s]
2. Photo Album [Optional: Coffee or 2000s]
3. Holiday [Optional: Dance or 1700s]
4. Karaoke [Optional: Summer or 1970s]
If a person were to receive this list, they may decide to go with prompt 1 and may choose to write/draw Sweden and Finland having a romantic day at the beach (possibly with a picnic in the mix if the optional prompt "Picnic" was included).
If you want to challenge yourself, you may add in your other main prompts in the mix or stick to one prompt and add in both your optional prompts. The possibilities are endless!
The Fanworks
- You must choose at least one prompt and then produce either one fanfic at least 500 words long or one piece of art.
- Works can be as simple or as long and complicated as you want as long as they fit the minimum requirements! But be considerate and realistic as well. Please don't submit a novel to us!
- All ratings for fanwork are permitted!
Please see the FAQ post for further details or questions and the Signup post to sign up! The last day to sign up is November 4th. We're happy to have you join us!
